Hi, I’m Sharon Willoughby,

I founded Wirral Montessori in 2016 and I am the Governess of Wirral Montessori. This follows a successful twenty-three-year career in primary teaching throughout UK & North America. My most recent role was as an EYFS teacher for Wirral Education Authority (WEA), where I was responsible for organising and delivering the Early Years Curriculum for children aged 2 – 5.

I am Montessori certified and recognising that not all children learn by sitting behind desks and having teacher led education pressed upon them, I founded Wirral Montessori Nursery to offer an alternative educational setting for all children, to learn their way and at their pace.

I love working at Wirral Montessori and the daily interaction with young, eager minds that are ready to learn. I love to see the children’s faces when they accomplish an activity independently and how quickly they adapt to the Montessori environment.

Our dedicated team of staff understand that children learn best when they are safe, supported and loved.

We work hard to provide a stimulating environment where children learn through exploration, manipulation of materials and discovery. We follow the government’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) alongside the Montessori Method of Education.

As well as staff holding appropriate childcare qualifications, we are very fortunate to have a fully qualified teacher with 25 years teaching experience actively involved in the day to day running of the nursery and teaching of the children.

Staff are trained in Paediatric First Aid, Health and Safety and Child Protection.

We carry out a full DBS (Disclosure and Barring Services) check on all our staff before they join us.

 

 

Key Person Approach

A Key Person will be assigned to your child and will be dedicated to encourage, support and develop your child’s skills. Your child’s key person will ensure that individual needs are met and that records of development are kept and updated on a regular basis.

If you have any questions or concerns,the nursery encourages you to talk to your child’s key person anytime during drop off/ pick up, if appropriate to do so, or during scheduled parent/teacher appointments.

Although a key person will be assigned to your child, at Wirral Montessori it is of very high importance for ALL staff to be actively involved with ALL children
